Morrow Mountain State Park - Sugerloaf Trail

Morrow Mountain State Park is near the town of Albermarle, North Carolina.

At some Parks, it can be a real chore finding the trailhead from the parking area. It's nice to have a sign pointing you in the right direction.

A small creek we hopped over toward the beginning of this hike. Gypsy loves drinking from streams, and I let her if the water is flowing. She does have a special shot from the veterinarian that protects her from catching parasites.

Due to a very rainy winter, the soil became over-saturated, and many trees toppled over from the roots.

Maps at trail intersections are helpful.

This is where the strenuous hiking begins. We have an elevation gain of 561 ft, according to my All Trails app.

The Pee Dee River is off in the distance. The top of the mountain is flat; my guess is one football field wide and two football fields long.
