Pilot Mountain State Park-Jameokee and Sassafras Trails

Traveling North on NC Highway 52, the Monadnock of Pilot Mountain State Park comes into view.

The rock steps are humanly made, but they blend in well with the natural landscape.

The Jameokee Trail took us next to the rock face that rises 200 feet high.

The views are spectacular. I was looking North towards NC Highway 52.

The different rock formations I viewed.

We exit the same way we came.

The Little  Pinnacle is a short excursion for some picturesque view of the Monadnock and surrounding landscape.

The Sassafras Trail starts near the entrance to the parking lot.

A hawk watches us upon its rock perch

The view of the giant rock from Sassafras Trail.

The return trip back on the Sassafras Trail ends ours hiking for this day.
